Remember these? Black leather with gold dots was not an option when I was a kid.

We had family friends that were river runners and they made their own fiberglass kayaks.  I grew up playing with their daughter and learning about whitewater. As little kids they would sit us down on their spray skirts and paddle us out to a small island near their favorite playspot. Back in those days we wore sneakers or went barefoot in the river. Tevas didn't hit the scene until the mid 80's and I got my first pair as a teenager. I loved them and wore them for as many months of the year as possible. My Teva tan was like a badge of honor. Long summers, sitting in damp shorts with a huge smile on my face. These shoes bring back a lot of great memories, let's get out and play on the water!

What are your favorite water shoes?
